During the winter vacation I went to Okinawa for the first time. It was weird getting off the plane into nice warm weather even though it was winter in Japan. I travelled to the northern part of Okinawa by car to a place called Daisekirinzan. It was great fun walking through the forest and looking at the many different rock formations. It is also known as a “Power spot”. One of the main activities I did was kayaking through mangroves to where the Okukubi-river meets the ocean. The weather wasn’t the best that morning, but I still managed to have a good time. Also, I visited an old Japanese navy underground headquarters from World War 2. It was very eerie walking through it. It was interesting reading about the history of it and seeing all the old photographs. I tried different kinds of Okinawa food. For example, sata andagi, Okinawa soba, and goya champuru. My favorite was probably goya champuru. I had it for breakfast at my hotel and didn’t mind the bitter taste.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time in Okinawa and would like to go back again one day.
Hello everyone! Hope you all had a great winter holiday! This winter holiday my parents came to visit me in Japan with my little brother, little sister and my grandma. For Christmas we went to Tokyo Disneyland, it was really busy but a lot of fun! The next day we took a trip to historic Kamakura to see the Big Buddha. After leaving Tokyo on the Shinkansen we stayed in Kobe for a week. While in Kansai I took my family to Nara, Osaka and Kyoto. For New Years we went to Himeji Castle. On the last day we went to USJ which was amazing. My family loved Japan. My grandma liked the deer in Nara, my brother liked USJ, my sister enjoyed the temples in Kyoto, my Dad liked the famous Shibuya crossing, and my Mum really liked Soba noodles. I hope they come back soon, and I wish everyone a happy New Years! Please come and share with me what you did over New Year’s!!
